Inspite of the not-so-good response I still went ahead and saw Veer not because I am a Salman Khan fan but because I was curious to see how the director has tried to narrate the story that Salman Khan has himself written around twenty years ago when he was shooting for his movie Baaghi. Well, what can I say, I was absolutely disappointed with the way the movie is made. Though, the story has some good points the overall construction of the story and screenplay is horrible and that is what will contribute to the failure of Veer at the box-office.In the initial scenes we see that Pindharis are a type of warriors who are always drunked but they battle like a no one can which is why they are feared. However, the King of Madhavgarh (Jackie Shroff) betrays them and make friends with the British. Together they slaughter around 4,500 Pindhari warriors and in a rage Pindhari's second-in-command (Mithun Chakraborty) slashes off King's right hand with one single blow. Soon, a son is born to Mithun and he trains him to be tough so that he can revenge the death of all the Pindhari warriors. Salman grows up to be the toughest man in the Pindhari tribe but is soon sent to England along with his younger brother where he finds Yashodhara (Zarine Khan) and soon they fall in love. However, Veer soon finds out that Yashodhara is the daughter of King of Madhavgarh and what happens from here on is a long epic but a predictable tale.
The only thing right about the movie is the technical department. The sound mixing, the visual effects and the cinematography is what makes the movie watchable. When it comes to performance, only Salman Khan and Mithun have been able to do justice to their roles. Jackie Shroff gives us very similar kind of performance all the time. Zarine Khan looks like a plump version of Katrina Kaif but is not able to deliver good performances. Sohail Khan does his usual stupid comedy which does not bring out any humor.
Sajid-Wajid has given a very average score to this movie as only a few songs like Surili Ankhiyonwale, Meherbaniyan and Salaam Aaya are good to watch and listen as well. I don't know why the song Surili Ankhiyonwale has been repeated so many times in the movie. At one point of time, the movie becomes literally unbearable because the songs keep flowing one after the other. The climax fight which looks like a copy from Troy makes no sense and what happens after the climax battle makes you feel more miserable than ever and you would be looking at your watch so that you can quickly move out of the theatre. Director Anil Sharma who is known for making grand movies have repeated the same again. Many scenes like the entry-scene of Salman and the scene before the Meherbaniyan song looks like they are being lifted from Gadar. Better luck next time Salman.
Well I never wanted to see this - Thank god !
